Fall in Love with the Season

‘Tis the season! The leaves have fallen, wintery weather is in the air and the Holidays are here. That means being curled up in front of the T.V. watching Christmas movies while drinking hot cocoa with your loved ones. Do not let COVID-19 ruin your love for the season! Get cozy. Go put on your favorite onesie, get your reindeer antlers, elf ears, Santa Claus hats, and get in the spirit.

One great way to start getting into the holiday spirit is by treating yourself to a holiday-themed manicure! When I think about the holidays, one of the first designs that come to my mind is candy canes and peppermint. You can do a super cute, classic, quick, and easy candy cane or peppermint design on your nails.

This unique look is so simple to achieve. All of the necessary tools you would need are just waiting to be used in your vanities or cabinets. For instance, toothpicks, q-tips, cotton balls, a striping brush, or tape. If you have a steady hand use the tape to make the peppermint stripes. If you aren’t a peppermint and candy cane type of person, go for a more eye-catching look and paint a Christmas tree on one or all of your nails.

Start by using a white nail polish shade for the base coat or you can use a shade like, Prosecco which is a gold polish that would pop and turn all the heads! Then, grab Eden which is a vibrant green, and find a thin brush or a toothpick to create the outlines of the Christmas tree. For a final touch, why not take a red shade like, All Reddy and make the most important part of the tree stand out, the star of course!

The last idea for a fun nail design that you can do at home would be ornaments. Who doesn’t love a good ornament, especially on nails? Be creative and come up with as many ideas as possible for this one, just make sure you have fun! You can do ornaments on each nail, every other nail, or just have one accent nail.

A good color you can start with could be Billie's Jeans, which is a deep pigmented blue, or even a shade like Baby Love, a soft pink (you can never go wrong with soft pink on your nails). Start from the top of your nails - from there, all you have to do is put a big dot of nail polish and try to make it as round as you can to shape it as an ornament.

It’s ok if you mess up, we all mess up here and there! However, if you do mess up grab The Remover, our soy-based, non-acetone nail polish remover, a q-tip, and fix your mistakes. After you have finished, get a black nail polish shade of your choice, a thin brush, or a toothpick and outline your ornaments for a finishing touch.

Again, don’t let COVID-19 ruin your holiday spirit! You have to make the best of it and work with what you've got. And, doing your own nails at home could be a great way in doing so.

If you mess up don’t worry about it, pick up the brush and give it another try. If Picasso gave up every time he messed up, would he have become one of the greatest painters? No. Practice makes perfect and it all takes time. So, sit back, watch your favorite holiday movie, and start painting your own nail art masterpiece.

‘Tis the season to be jolly, take advantage.
