On Friday, April 20th, a Philadelphia mother of 2 nearly died from Toxic Shock Syndrome. Yes, in 2018, women are still at risk of dying from super absorbent tampons. The problem is many of the feminine products on the market today are made of ingredients that are toxic to the female body and can interfere with the delicate reproductive system.
Vaginal tissue along with the vulva, clitoral hood and labia minora are composed of mucous membrane, making it 10 times more absorbent than regular skin. Ironically, the products we use on the most fragile ecosystem of the female body are riddled with chemicals that can lead to various cancers, skin irritations, cramping, and possibly infertility.
Most feminine care product manufacturers aren’t required to state what goes into their products. Think about it, when was the last time you saw an ingredient list of what goes into your Tampax? Proctor and Gamble (the makers of Always Infinity Pads) do not disclose what goes into their renowned Inficel technology that enables the material to absorb up to 10x its weight in liquid.
The natural health living website Naturally Savvy, ran an experiment where they burned the popular pad to test for chemicals. The burning pads turned charcoal black indicating there are flammable substances such as Acetone, Chlorofoam, and Chloromethane present in these products.
Once upon a time, Chloromethane was used as a refrigerant cooler until it was discovered this chemical could be toxic to the kidneys, liver, and brain. Yet, it is still an ingredient used to produce products for women. We all know what acetone can do to the skin on your hands, imagine the dismay it may be causing on your lady parts.

I just tried the infused Honey Pot pads and they are amazing! They smell fresh and make me feel fresher. I have a very sensitive vjay and the “tingling” didn’t burn; it was more of a menthol burst, but it’s a soothing sensation that dissipated after a while. I honestly did feel relief from cramping and bloating after using my first pad. I always swore I’d never go back to pads but I love Honey Pot and will use them from now on. I also use menstrual discs (Softdisc) and love them as well! Will never use a tampon again!!
Never had seen before but I work in a warehouse and these were supplied so it was the only option at first the tingle shocked me but by use of a second one my cramps had almost disappeared and my miserable period day seemed much more tolerable.
I switched to using Lola pads, and honestly, I love them!. They never make me itchy or irritated.
I have endometriosis, so I figured I’d try and give the honest pot pads a try because I read they can help with cramps; immediately after putting the pad on, it burned terribly, so I took it off and put a Lolas one on. I don’t think this happens with everyone, but some women have more sensitive skin than others. I read that the company will be putting pads out that aren’t infused with essential oils.
Just bought pads to try and the burning sensation if horrible. In the trash
